Following Mantoju, (2021), seafaring is an intrinsically nerve-racking environment profession, as numerous stressors affect sailors. A few of the prospects of seafaring such as simultaneous working and accommodating in the same confined environment of the vessel, lack of nutritious & fresh food, restricted social contact and isolation from loved ones ; lack of social contact for long durations, noises and vibrations within the vessel due to engines, and rolling of the vessel because of rough weather conditions. Many stressors concerned with seafaring are considered chronic. (Hystad and Eid 2016)

USERS

BRIEF

As Mantoju (2021) says , seafaring industry is a world wide issue. It is considered to be one of the most globalized sector in the world. For instance, raw materials that are transported by the sea allow countries to build industries, construct cities, houses, move population and transform resources into refined products for export. This gives the opportunity for countries to grow tugs prosperity. Seafarers are the heroes behind the scenes, who should be attributed to the success of the sector. Seamen are often categorized as an exceptional society . That is because the profession forces them to spend a hefty portion of their lives working at sea, far from home away from social life. The environment sailors work is full of physical risks, which follows to high rate of emotional stress. Shipwrecks, fatalities, racism, sexual harassment and even suicide is a common thing among seafarers. As records the «happiness rate» it composes only 6.5 out of 10. That is why this is an important issue to look at.

The Given project offers Sailors Welfare Community Centre that is focused on bringing harmony & Comfort to Seafarers, who’s having a constant stress and a wide range of difficulties. It is aimed to create comfortable environment for sailors, a peaceful place where they can release the pressure, have a chance to meet their family, get Psychological help and  rest.
